The getFirstChild operation returns null because the context node CO does not have any child nodes.

taDOM3+ Lock Requests of checked Operation setValue(contextAttrNode, valueString) executed on node AX

The setValue operation executed on the context attribute node CA returns the modified attribute string node AS which contains the actual node value.
