Versioning and Configuration Concepts in Non-Standard-Database-Systems

The representation and adequate manipulation of complex objects and complex object versions is a requirement inherent to many application areas. In order to adequately support design applications we developed OVDM (the Object and Version Data Model) providing means for the representation and manipulation of explicit and apparent complex object versions and configurations.

Processing Models for Technical DB-Applications

We provide a heterogenously structured DBMS consisting of a central server (server DBMS) obeying to classical DB features and locally adapted data management components on workstations (client DBMSs). A hybrid processing model has been proposed allowing for manipulation of application objects either through a local object buffer or directly on the server.

Application Programming Interfaces (API)

We analyze existing APIs, extract embedding techniques, and propose an embedding for a prototypical set-oriented query language into an object-oriented programming language keeping the pros of an earlier approach and also improving its programming interface.

Product Model Data Representation and Exchange: The STEP Standard

STEP (Industrial Automation Systems and Integration - Product Data Representation and Exchange, see ISO 10303) allows for electronic management of complete product life cycles. We investigate its data definition language EXPRESS and its data access interface SDAI in conjunction with database technology.
