Die Lernziele der Vorlesung sind das Erlernen von Grundlagen und der Erwerb von methodischem und technologischem Wissen zur Entwicklung von modernen Informationssystemen (IS) in heterogenen und verteilten Umgebungen. Zentrale Inhalte sind die robuste Datenmanipulation in Mehrschichtenarchitekuren und Techniken und Middleware zur Realisierung und Integration von IS auf Daten-, Anwendungs-, und Geschäftsprozessebene. Dies umfaßt: ".

• Verteile Transaktionsverwaltung (TP-Monitore)
• Datenintegration (Schemaintegration, Wrapper-basierte Ansätze)
• DB-Gateways (ODBC, JDBC, SQLJ)
• Web-basierter DB-Zugriff (CGI, Servlets, Applets)
• Verteilte Objekte und Komponenten (CORBA, EJB, J2EE - Transaktionen, Persistenz, Sicherheit, Anbindung von Legacy-Systemen)
• Botschaftenorientierte Middleware (Message Queuing, Message Brokers)
• XML (Grundlagen, XML als Integrationstechnologie)
• Web Services (Grundlagen, Erweiterungen für robuste Web Services)
• Geschäftsprozesse (Modellierung, Workflow Management, transaktionale Workflows, Orchestrierung von Web Services)
